west end
The West End close to Stanley Park and English Bay Beach is densely populated and an intensively active portion of downtown Vancouver. During the 1930s and 40s, a wave of apartment development occurred. These were low rise structures with impressive Art Deco and Tudor-inspired facades. The 1960's and 70's brought more development when more than 220 high-rise apartments were built. This boom created the skyline that we are familiar with today.
